At the just concluded 102nd Lions’ Clubs International Convention, held in Milan Italy from July 5-9, 2019, the newly elected District Governor District 404A1, for the 2019-2020 Lions Year, Lion Adekunle Adedoyin Adedipe, Who was installed along with other DG elects from over 204 countries and geographical locations, by the new International president 2019/2020, LION DR.Jung Yul Choi has shown a strong indication that his term will be devoted to extraordinary service and milestones.
This year’s Lions International Convention, recorded some milestones, notably the resolution that granted constitutional Area status to Africa, which hitherto was grouped together with India, South Asia and the Middle East [ISAAME].
The international convention, the platform where lions elect new international officers such as the International President, First, Second and Third Vice Presidents and international directors, was attended by all the District Governors (DG)-elects from around the world, including the four DGs from Nigeria.
One of the DGs, Lion Adekunle Adedoyin Adedipe, newly elected in District 404A1 for the 2019-2020 Lions Year, has shown a strong indication that his term will be devoted to extraordinary services and milestones.

Adedipe, who emerged from Akure Ala Lions Club, had earlier in his acceptance speech declared: “Our Vision is to build a continually improving association of members serving with joy and totally focused on identification and response to community needs…Our past leaders have laid an excellent foundation upon which we shall build this fiscal year.”
The service plan he outlined was in accord with the Lions Year whose theme is “Excellence In Service.”
Adedipe, a Quantity Surveyor, is the Principal Partner of Krown Konsult, a firm of registered quantity surveyors based in Akure (with branches in Lagos and Port Harcourt) that is actively engaged in Quantity Surveying consultancy, is renowned as top-notch construction economists and property managers.
In terms of core projects, the DG disclosed: “In the 2019-2020 fiscal year, we intend to build a 10-bed dialysis centre in Akure, Ondo State. Presently Akure which is home to almost 600, 000 people does not have a functional dialysis centre and in the entire state of almost four million, there are only two functional units with a combined total of six beds.”
According to him, the club is in discussion with Ondo State University of Medical Sciences who have already allocated a piece of land towards this project. “We are also discussing with Adcem Healthcare Services who have operational experience and expertise in this field to act as a technical partner. Adcem Healthcare Services is the representative of Fresenius International, the world’s leading manufacturer of Haemodialysis equipment in the world,” he further disclosed
His plans also encompasses the regular Lions Club round-the-year sights-saving activities, which will be pursued with renewed vigour calculated to result in the screening of 5, 000 persons in the entire district and the provision of 1, 000 pairs of eyeglasses for the entire district. “We have not excluded the likelihood of cornea transplants and would address that as the need arises,” he affirmed.
Following his new appointment, Adedipe, now the seventh District Governor of District 404A1, promised to “form seven new clubs attracting 140 members,” using a two-prong strategic plan aimed at strengthening membership in the district.

In other traditional Lions Club’s service areas such as diabetes awareness and action, he hinted at a robust advocacy/awareness and action plan to screen 2, 500 persons across the entire district, and with regard to pediatric cancer, he said: “We shall identify a hospital in Benin city who currently have an Oncology department with a view to determining how best to support activities towards eradication and or management of Pediatric cancer.”
He also promised to boost leadership development within the club.
“In the fiscal year 2019-2020, we plan that at least 80 per cent of new Zone and Region Chairpersons will complete the required training. We also expect at least 50% of new club officers to complete club officer training while 120 Lions across the district will complete at least one course on the Lions Learning Centre,” he declared, stating further that “at least, 15 new Guiding Lions shall be certified while qualified candidates across the region shall be encouraged to attend Lions Leadership Institutes.
Lion Adekunle Adedoyin Adedipe is ready and poised to take the wheels and steer Lions District 404A1 to greater heights in service to humanity.
