The Minister of Transportation, Rotimi Amaechi has revealed that the laying of rail track up to Ibadan station is now complete. The focus is now the completion of the tracks from Agege to Apapa.
The minister took to social media site, Twitter to give an appraisal of the project.
“Laying of tracks up to Ibadan station is now complete. Our focus will now be on completing the tracks from the Agege end to Apapa Seaport and completing all the major and minor stations along the Lagos-Ibadan standard gauge rail line” he wrote.

He also revealed that he has ordered the contractors handling the project, The China Civil Engineering Construction Company, CCECC to intensify work on the project.
“On our monthly inspection of the Lagos-Ibadan rail line, I noticed that work has slowed down along the Iju-Agege axis, and I’ve directed that the contractors put in more work and get the track to Ikeja as soon as possible” he said.
