LASEMA clears Palmgroove multiple accident

In a recent development, Lagos State Emergency Management Agency, LASEMA Response Team has cleared a multiple accident at Palmgroove Bus stop close to it’s Onipan Unit in a just concluded operation.

The multiple accident involving a petrol tanker with registration number MUS 641XL, loaded to capacity with Premium Motor Spirit, PMS, belonging to NIPCO lost control while on motion as a result of mechanical fault, collided with three other vehicles at Palmgroove Stop inward Obanikoro.

Preliminary Report on the Palmgroove Bus Stop multiple accident has it that, “Upon arrival at the scene of incident, it was discovered that a tanker loaded with PMS belonging to Nipco with registration number MUS 641XL lost control while on motion as a result of mechanical fault and collided with a truck loaded with Heineken drinks with registration number EPE 601XV and two other unknown vehicles thereby obstructing vehicular activities on the main carriage way.

“However, no loss of life nor injury was sustained at the scene where the LRT, RRS of the Nigerian Police, LNSC and LASTMA were responders at the scene, working together to evacuate the accident tanker and truck off the road”.

However, the said Petrol Tanker at epicenter of the accident with it’s crushed fiber head which was blanketed during the LASG Fire Service to prevent secondary incident of petroleum tanker explosion, was towed off the road with LASEMA heavy duty equipment, to safety.

Blanketing of the rear end of the said Petrol Tanker which contained the 40,000 litres of PMS was continued by the LASG Fire Service all through the recovery process while the law enforcement agents provided escort and security.
