Lagos State gubernatorial candidate of the All Progressives Congress, APC, in the forthcoming general election, Babatunde Sanwo- Olu says his administration will construct two new stadia in Ikorodu Division of the state and at Ajelogun Mile 12, Ketu area of the state if voted into power.
He stated this, during an interactive session with members of Sports Writers Association of Nigeria, Lagos chapter.
Sanwo-Olu, who used the occasion to roll out his blue print for sports development in the state, also noted that apart from the construction of the stadia, sporting facilities would be upgraded in every part of the state to enable Lagos reclaim its position as the number one sporting state in the country.
“As somebody who is passionate about sports and who also believes in giving youths opportunity to exhibit their sports talent, my government when voted into power will take the issue of facility upgrade serious and also construct two new stadia in Ikorodu and Ajelogun area of Ketu,” he assured.

According to him, the government will also establish a data base that will contain all the information about the past and present state of Lagos sports, with the view of finding out where the state derailed in sports development and areas of improvement.
The gubernatorial candidate while lamenting the poor state of the National Stadium, Surulere, explained that he would continue to make case for the eventual take over of the edifice for proper renovation and maintenance.
“It’s a pity that the National Stadium, which has hosted important sporting events in the country is now in a poor condition and neglected. By the grace of God, when I become the governor, I will not relent in making case for the handover of the edifice to Lagos State for proper maintenance,” he concluded.
