Lagos police foils robbery attempt on Easter Sunday, arrests two suspects

A team of policemen from the Special Anti-Robbery Squad (SARS), Lagos State Police Command, foiled a robbery attempt in the early hours of Easter Sunday, in the Ikorodu area of Lagos, arresting two suspects. 

This development comes even as the Lagos Commissioner of Police, CP Hakeem Odumosu, had met with tactical commanders and heads of various units at the command, charging them to deal with suspected robbers who have taken to robbing residents in various parts of the state during the lockdown. 

The command’s spokesperson, Elkana Bala, who confirmed the arrest of the suspects, gave their identities as Toheeb Sanusi, 21, and Adewale Adeshina, 24.

He stated that the suspects were arrested with one locally made revolver pistol and one cutlass. 
The spokesperson also noted that the command had also arrested 92 suspected cultists in different parts of the state. 

He said: “ Operatives from Ikorodu Police Station supported by SARS operatives deployed by the Commissioner of Police, Lagos State Police command, CP Hakeem Odumosu, on April 12, at 12:25 a.m., acting on credible information, arrested one Toheeb Sanusi and Adewale Adeshina, around Benson area Ikorodu. 

“One locally made revolver pistol and one cutlass were recovered  from them. The suspects confessed that they were in the area to rob unsuspecting members of the public. Investigation is ongoing, the suspects will soon be charged to Court. 

“The Commissioner of Police Lagos State, had given Commanders of tactical units in Lagos State a clear instruction to deal decisively with armed hoodlums daring the collective will of the people to rob in any part of the State during the lockdown. ”
