The police in Lagos State have arrested a two-man motorcycle snatching syndicate at the Bariga area of the state.
The suspects, Tobi Onileowo, 26, and Olakunle Ayo, 25, were arrested for shooting a motorcyclist, Mohammed Faruk, and forcefully taking his motorcycle.
The incident, which happened, on Saturday, June 8, was reported by Faruk to Sabo Police Station.
On receiving the complaint, the Divisional Police Officer, Chike Ibe, a Chief Superintendent of Police, led a team of policemen to the robbers’ hideout.
While making comments on the arrest of the suspects, Lagos Police Public Relations Officer, Elkana Bala, said the suspects would soon be charged to court.

Bala, a Deputy Superintendent of Police said, “Faruk who lives on No 37, Teslim Street, Bariga reported that the gang shot him with a gun in an attempt to snatch his motorcycle.
“A team of Police Officers led by the Divisional Police Officer Sabo, CSP Chike Ibe swung into action.
“The suspects engaged the team in a gun battle but were subdued. Onileowo was arrested while Ayo was fatally injured.”
Items recovered from the suspects were one double barrel pistol with two expanded cartridges and one live cartridge.
In a similar development, the command said three traffic robbers were arrested over the weekend and firearms recovered from them.
Bala said the suspects were arrested at about 12.30a.m, on Saturday, at Anthony Oke area, by surveillance patrol team from Shomolu Pedro Police Division.
He gave the identities of the suspects as Ayomide Olamipo, 21, Ogundiran Timileyin, 22, and Blessing Ndubusi, 16.
” One locally made pistol, one sharp knife and expended Ak 47 Bullet were recovered from the suspects. They all confessed to be responsible for traffic robberies along Shomolu and environ,” Bala said.
The spokesperson said the suspects will soon be charged to court.
