Lagos govt. to grant 12 months tax waiver for owners of looted shops

Governor Babajide Sanwo-Olu of Lagos State, on Sunday, paid a solidarity visit to Circle Mall, Jakande, Lekki, to commiserate with business owners whose shops were attacked and vandalized by hoodlums as a results of the mayhem caused in aftermath effects of EndSars protests.

The mall housed ShopRite, Genesis Cinema, Ruff ‘n’Tumble and other notable stores.

Governor Sanwo-Olu commiserated with them on their losses and promised that the state government would ensure it grant them 12 months tax break and financial support in two folds inform of grants and zero interest loans.

He further promised that the government would continue to keep the people and properties in Lagos safe in a secure and conducive environment for business to thrive.

One of the business owners, Adenike Ogunlesi, the Chief Executive Officer, Ruff ‘n’Tumble thanked the Governor and state government officials for the visit, and urged the government to render financial support to them and give them tax rebate.

She added the shop owners were yet to overcome they loss and damages suffered during the Xenophobic attack last year as well as the aftermath effects of the Covid-19 pandemic, when the lastest incidents happened.

She lamented the latest incidents is shameful adding that there was need for the people in the community to see the business owners as a solution rather than the problem.
