Residents of Abule Osun in Oriade Local Council Development Area of Lagos State have been thrown into mourning since two days ago when two boys from the same family got electrocuted in the area.

The deceased children according to a resident in the area, Mr. Osita Ezeagu, aged eight and fourteen years , lived on Alabuku Link Road.

Recalling the sad event, Mr Ezeagwu said the first victim got electrocuted while attempting to remove an electric cable that fell from the pole close to the gate of their house.

” It was an electric cable that fell from a pole close to the gate of the boys’ house was what the poor boy wanted to remove before he was electrocuted. Call it ignorance or carelessness but he simply did that with an innocent heart. It’s very sad that it ended this way,’ lamented Ezeagwu.

But fate was not done with the family yet as the second victim who was a cousin to the first victim, on seeing his brother trapped on the cable, rushed to rescue him and ended up being electrocuted too.

Another resident who spoke on account of anonymity said the incident might have been prevented if people were to be around. She said: ” It was on a Sunday when many people have gone to church services . At least somebody would have warned them against touching an electric cable. It was a big blow to the community.”
