Labour Party disowns Kano guber candidate hobnobbing with Tinubu, says ‘Bashir Ishak-Bashir never our candidate’

The Kano State chapter of the Labour Party (LP) has disowned its purported gubernatorial candidate in the state, saying Bashir Ishak-Bashir, who was seen with  the presidential candidate of the All Progressives Congress, APC, Asiwaju Bola Ahmed Tinubu, and some party stakeholders earlier, was never the LP candidate.

Bashir had been quoted as saying: “I am in high-level discussion with the leadership of the APC at the national level on how we can support the party to win the forthcoming general elections.

“I will soon get across to you our final position on the matter,” the politician told reporters earlier.

However, Alhaji Mohammed Raji, the Labour Party Chairman in Kano State, described Bashir’s claims as false, adding that he was never the LP governorship candidate in Kano State.

Addressing journalists in Kano, Raji disclosed that at no time was  Bashir’s name posted on the Independent National Electoral Commission, INEC, portal, as governorship candidate for LP in Kano State.

“He came to the party alone and left alone,” Raji said.

He added that the party’s structure remained intact with all its Senatorial, House of Representatives and State Assembly candidates contesting in the February and March elections.
