Recall that Mr. Otti’s candidature was nullified following a lawsuit filed by Ibrahim Haruna Ibrahim against the Labour Party and the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC).

The judgement was given on grounds that the Labour Party did not comply with the requirements stipulated in the 2022 Electoral Act. It was said that the Party failed to submit its membership register to INEC at least 30 days before their primaries as satipulated by the law.
Labour Party’s legal counsel, Umeh Kalu SAN, said they filed an appeal on May 22, for the judgement of the trial court to be set aside.
