…..also extra N50,000 support monthly to staffs in same condition

Students with physical disabilities at the Kwara State University (KWASU), Malete are now enjoying N100,000 rebate of their school fees while members of staff having the same challenge get N50,000 to augment their extra expenses.
Also, ‘School Fees Relief Grants’ of N100,000 were given to 4 biological children of confirmed staff of all categories to help them cope with the economic reality in the country.
Vice Chancellor, Professor Shaykh-Luqman Jimoh made this known at the University’s 12th Convocation Ceremony where 6,891 set of 2023/2024 students among which were 6374 First degrees and 517 Post Graduate degrees graduated. 71 of them came out with First Class.
Harping on the achievements of the institution, Professor Jimoh dwelt on their robust Staff Development and Industrial harmony programmes which made teaching and learning smooth in the academic community.
According to him, industrial harmony in KWASU was not by chance but by the spirit of cooperations among different unions in the university while the management on its part, had continued to prioritize welfare efforts to the best of the school’s financial abilities.
Speaking on the Research Output of KWASU the Vice Chancellor told the congregation that the institution had made strides in the electric vehicle conversion; the lately hybrid CNG conversion in particular.
He also said they had other opportunities they were leveraging on to reduce dependence on fossil fuel and reduce costs of petrol in Nigeria. In line with this, he said the Varsity had signed Memoranda of Understanding with two Chinese companies to supply them customised CNG conversion kits.
Also speaking at the event, both the Chancellor of the University, Engr. (Dr.) Johnson Adewumi, himself the proprietor of Thomas Adewumi University, Oko and the Pro-Chancellor, Proffessor AbdulGaniyu Ambali called on all and sundry to come to the assistance of KWASU in its quests to sustain a tempo of her zeal to be the best among equals.
The Governor, Mallam AbdulRahman AbdulRazaq in his keynote address through the Tertiary Education Commissioner, Dr. Mary Arinde said his government would not rest on its oars to see that KWASU makes ground breaking feats and always record all round tops.
