The race on who wins the November 16, 2019, gubernatorial elections in Kogi State has intensified as the national chairman of the All Progressives Grand Alliance (APGA), Chief Victor Ike Oye, has declared that power would soon change hands in Kogi state in the forthcoming election
Okoye made this declaration in his office at the national headquarters of the All Progressives Grand Alliance (APGA), in Abuja, when a frontline politician and APGA’s aspirant for the governorship, Dr. Sani Shaibu was obtaining his gubernatorial nomination form
“It is good that you came first to pick your nomination form, this will allow you to reach more delegates for supports before the primary election on the 3rd of September, 2019. APGA is set to take over Kogi State; we will win the election, that is why we will make sure our party primary is conducted in a free and fair atmosphere devoid of manipulations. While PDP and APC keep fighting themselves because they all have nothing to offer the electorates, we will coast to victory”.

Also speaking, the National Secretary of the party, Mr. Labaran Maku said; “You can see that one of the aspirants is here to pick his nomination form. More aspirants are still coming, we will welcome them all. Our party is confident of victory at the polls. So far, eminent personalities have shown interest and we look forward to having them all in a credible primary that will provide the next governor of Kogi State.”
On his part; Shaibu, after picking up his gubernatorial nomination forms alongside his hordes of friends, associates and party faithful who accompanied him to the party headquarters has promised to bring his wealth of experience to bear in the race.
While addressing the press, he expressed sadness that the issue of salaries is now being politicized and used as a campaign gimmick.
“The issue of salaries is not about campaigns, people are entitled to their pay as at when due. With my experience from the service, as a Former Permanent Secretary, Finance Director and Accountant-General at the state level, I know the problem of the workforce and I will judiciously address it” he said.
He also expressed confidence in his ability to defeat the incumbent during the election.
In his words; “If you don’t have the confidence to win, then, you are wasting your time. I, Dr. Sani Shaibu is confident and I will win, and when I win, you win” he said.
