The Chairman of Kirikasamma Local Government in Jigawa State, Alhaji Salisu Garba-Kubayo, on Wednesday said the council had spent over N 26 million on drilling boreholes and rural electrification project in the area in 2019.
Garba-Kubayo told the News Agency of Nigeria (NAN) in Kirikasamma that over N15 million was spent on drilling hand-pump boreholes and over N 11 million on electrification project.
He said the electrification project involved the purchase of street light solar panels, installation of poles and transmission lines, among others.
The chairman listed the benefitting towns and villages to include Kubayo, Marma, Barmaguwa, Madaci, Maigayin, Una, Gapta and Sawo.
On the 2019 Animal Vaccination Programme, Garba-Kubayo said the council would spend N500, 000 in the ongoing vaccination of over 25,000 livestock.

According to him, the livestock, which include cattle, goats, sheep and goats will be vaccinated against Contagious Bovine Pleuropneumonia and Pests des Petits Ruminants (PPR).
The chairman commended Governor Mohammad Badaru for his support and cooperation, especially in resolving farmers and herdsmen crises, to a large extent in the area.
“Before the governor came on board, there was an upsurge in farmers and herdsmen crises.
“ Through his support, especially by setting up a mediation committee and funding it, you hardly hear about such skirmishes any longer,” he said. (NAN)
