Kidnapping: 17-year-old school girl killed by kidnappers after collecting N1m ransom

Habeebah Akinsanya, 17-year-old school girl and student of Lisabi Grammar School, Abeokuta, in the Mile 6 area of Obafemi/Owode local government area of Ogun State, has been killed by kidnappers after collecting N1million ransom. Habeebah was abducted on Friday August 30.

According to her father, Akinsanya Aremu, a member of the So-Safe Corps, he reported the kidnapping of his daughter to the Kemta Police Station in Abeokuta, immediately after it occurred but the kidnappers contacted him and demanded a ransom of N1 million for her release.

Aremu said he transferred the ransom to an Opay account provided by the kidnappers but was surprised when the kidnappers directed him to a location near Obasa, a few kilometres from the OGTV/Mile 6 area, to retrieve his daughter’s body.

Arriving at the scene on Sunday morning, Aremu said he found his daughter’s lifeless body, mutilated and covered with soldier ants.

Marks on her body showed that she was macheted to death.

The kidnappers reportedly contacted the father again on Sunday and demanded another ransom in spite of killing his daughter but the father refused.
