Kidnapped Plateau monarch, Mato Dakat regains freedom

Kidnapped traditional monarch in Plateau State, Charles Mato Dakat, has been freed by his abductors.

Dakat, the Paramount ruler in Gindiri chiefdom, Mangu Local Government Area, was abducted by gunmen, who attacked his palace around 1 am on Sunday, December 26.

The kidnappers of the monarch had demanded N500 million as ransom.

However, the monarch was released in the early hours of Friday, December 31, five days after his abduction.

A family source confirmed who confirmed his release said, “God has answered our prayers. His Royal Highness, Charles Mato Dakat, has been released. He is in good condition of health.”

The source, however, did not reveal how much was paid as ransom for his release.

“All I can tell you is that life is more than money. Thank you all for your prayers, encouragement, and support. To God be the glory, great things He has done and will continue to do,” he added.
