Katsina Police arrest 1005 suspects, rescue 171 kidnapped victims, 600 rustled animals in months

The Police in Katsina State has recorded huge successes in its war against criminals in the state, arresting a total of 1005 suspects in connection with 853 reported criminal cases in the last four months, from June 1 to 30th September 30, 2023.
Abubakar Sadiq, ASP, spokesperson of the Command, on Monday, made the disclosure on behalf of Aliyu Abubakar Musa, the Commissioner of Police, during a press conference at the Katsina State Police Command Headquarters.
Out of the 1005 cases, 395 cases are currently undergoing prosecution in various competent courts in the state, the Command further said.
It also disclosed that 171 kidnapped victims were successfully rescued by it’s operatives, who also neutralised five suspected kidnappers.

Additionally, the Command also said it recovered a large cache of dangerous weapons, including AK-47 rifles, six locally made guns, and 517 live rounds of ammunition.
According to Sadiq 53 out of the of the 1005 suspects were arrested for robbery, 82 for kidnapping, 73 for murder, 90 for rape while another 707 were apprehended for various offences, including possession of illegal drugs, cultism, inciting disturbance, and gang-related activities.
Sadiq added that within the period under review, the state police command also recovered over 600 suspected rustled animals and a significant number of stolen motor vehicles and motorcycles.
Similarly, the Command confiscated various drugs within the period under review, including 568 sachets of D5 tablets, 411 packets of rebozel tablets, 180 wraps of dried leaves suspected to be Indian hemp, 23 packets of Exzole tablets, and 5 packs of Diezole tablets.
