JUST IN: PDP suspends Nat’l chair, Iyorchia Ayu

The People’s Democratic Party (PDP) Executive Committee in Igyorov Ward, Gboko Local Government Area, Benue State, has suspended the party’s National Chairman, Iyorchia Ayu, with immediate effect.
After a vote of no confidence, they suspended Ayu for anti-party activities.
Banger Dooyum, the party secretary in Igyorov ward, said Ayu’s anti-party activities, along with his allies, contributed to the PDP’s loss in his ward and local government in the governorship election while reading a resolution.

Ayu is also accused of failing to pay his annual dues, as required by the party constitution. Twelve of the seventeen members of the exco signed the documents approving his suspension.

They also claimed that the PDP chieftain did not vote in the March 18 governorship and state assembly elections.
According to them, the majority of Ayu’s closest allies worked for the opposition All Progressive Congress (APC), resulting in the PDP’s dismal performance in Igyorov Ward.
Kashi Philip, the ward chairman of Igyorov, also signed the letter alongside the exco.
