JUST IN: INEC won’t call any witness in defence of petition by PDP, Atiku

The Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC), on Monday, said it was not calling any witness in defence of the petition by the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) and its presidential candidate in the February 23, 2019 elections, Alhaji Atiku Abubakar.

INEC’s lawyer, Yunus Usman (SAN), announced this at the resumption of proceedings at the Presidential Election Petition Tribunal (PEPT).

By theTribunal’s schedule, INEC was expected to open its defence today (Monday(, but when the case was called, Usman said they have scrutinised the evidence by witnesses called by the petitioners and found that there was no need for it.
