Islamic cleric warns those plotting Interim Govt.

National Missioner of the Ansar-Ud-Deen Society of Nigeria, Sheik AbdurRahman Ahmad, has warned that any attempt by some politicians to shorten President-elect Bola Tinubu’s inauguration on May 29 will be harmful.

Recall that Mr. Festus Keyamo SAN, the spokesman for the All Progressives Congress Presidential Campaign Committee (APC PCC), had highlighted concerns over purported conspiracies by some opposition groups to sabotage the transition process.

The Islamic cleric, speaking at the annual Ramadan lecture of the Ansar-Ud-Deen Society of Nigeria, in Lagos State, warned that such a move would divide the country and disrupt its tranquility.

He said, “It will be unwise for anyone to think they can use extrajudicial means to truncate the swearing-in. That will be dangerous because it is at the heart of the unity of this country.

“It is also at the heart of the well-being of the people. If we must have a country, then we must live by the constitution”.

Recall that the Department of State Services (DSS) has also raised the alert about a scheme by some individuals to obtain a court injunction to prevent the May 29 event that would result in the formation of an Interim Government.
