An AIICO Insurance Manager, Francis Aniamalu, on Friday appeared before an Ebute Meta Chief Magistrates’ Court in Lagos State for allegedly defrauding some customers of N9.4 million.
Aniamalu, 36, is facing charges of conspiracy, forgery, fraud and obtaining under false pretence, to which he pleaded not guilty.
The Prosecutor, Insp. Chinalu Uwadione, told the court that the defendant committed the offences from 2016 to 2018 at Iyana Isolo Area of Lagos.
Uwadione said that the defendant forged various receipts of AIICO Insurance and other documents and presented them to customers who took them as genuine.

“The defendant was able to defraud various customers of N9.4 million by forging various receipts for payment made to the company and converted the funds to his own personal use.
According to the prosecutor, the offences contravened Sections 287, 314, 363 and 411 of the Criminal Law of Lagos State, 2015.
The Chief Magistrate, Mrs. Adeola Adedayo, admitted the defendant to bail in the sum of N3 million with two sureties each in like sum and adjourned the case until May 28 for continuation of hearing. (NAN)
