Insecurity in S’East: Anambra gov, Soludo unmasks ‘unknown gunmen’

Anthony Iwuoma

Anambra State Governor, Prof. Chukwuma Soludo, has unmasked the identities of those perpetrating criminal activities in the state.

Contrary to the ascription of unknown gunmen’ to the gangsters, Soludo said they are known, adding that they are Igbo.

Speaking on Sunday in an interview on Channels TV’s Politics Today, the governor added that the wealth of the state made it attractive to the criminals, especially kidnappers.

Soludo said: “They are not unknown gunmen, they are unknown to the extent that maybe are not caught immediately.

“Let me be clear about it: 100% of the people we have caught are Igbo. Nobody is invading from somewhere. It is 100% Igbo on Igbo.

“Anambra receives its share of influx of Igbo from other South-East States and other parts of Nigeria. The first set of people we caught are Igbos from the South-East States and not from Anambra (State).

“But as we went on, we discovered that a whole lot of the youth are joining them, we are dealing with them equally.”

The entire South-east, particularly Anambra and Imo states, has suffered unmitigated violent attacks in the recent past. Most of the criminal acts have been blamed on the Indigenous People of Biafra, IPOB, despite their repeated denials.
