The Imo State House of Assembly on Tuesday impeached the Deputy Speaker, Hon. Chyna Amarachi Iwuanyanwu, and also recalled the six members it suspended some months back.
The former deputy speaker, Iwuanyanwu, representing Nwangele State Constituency, was sacked by 18 out of 21 lawmakers that comprised the legislature.
The attention of the Speaker Rt. Hon. Paul Emeziem, was drawn to the resolution of members by the member, representing Orsu State Constituency, Hon. Ekene Nnodimele.
The speaker read the resolution on the floor of the House in spite of spirited efforts by Iwuanyanwu, to stop it.
The deputy speaker’s removal is not unconnected to the suspicion that he is a mole for thestste governor and always related to him the goings on in the House.
Moreover, he was also allegedly be high handed and brash, being the de factor Speaker of the House, a position he used to obstruct other lawmakers from accessing the governor as his confidante thus truncating passage of populist bills.
Also, the House recalled six lawmakers that were suspended three months ago. Readmitting them to the House, the Speaker, Paul Emeziem, urged them to avoid recurrence of what caused their earlier suspension.
