Imo APC holds unification meetings

Ahead of the senatorial by-election in Imo North, the Imo State chapter of the All Progressives Congress (APC), on Thursday, held  strategic ‘unification and harmonisation’ meetings.

The well-attended meetings, which took place simultaneously across all the six local government areas of Imo North, also known as Okigwe zone, became necessary for the party to close ranks, as the zone zeroes in on the poll next month.

They were convened at the instance of the leader of APC in the state, Governor Hope Uzodinma, with the primary objective to unify the party and harmonise the various differing interests within the party in the zone in order to galvanise support for the party’s candidate, Sir Frank Ibezim, in the October 31 poll.

The leadership of APC in each LGA, including the Caretaker Chairmen, House of Assembly members, Commissioners and Special Advisers to the governor coordinated the meetings.

At the end of the meetings, the various stakeholders in the zone within the party agreed to subsume their individual interests in the overall interests of the party and work for the success of Ibezim, its candidate in the by-election.
