A pro-democracy group, Campagn for Dignity in Governance (CDG), has praised Governor Babajide Olusola Sanwo-Olu on the prompt issuance of the White Paper on the Ikoyi collapsed building saying the step would guarantee quick resolution of all the recommendation therein.
In a statement signed by the group’s National President, Comrade Raza Olokoba, the CDG also commended the Toyin Ayinde-led panel put in place for the assignment for a job well done saying, the panel of respected personalities did a marvelous job that would assist the Lagos Government the opportunity to do the needful without further delay.

The statement further gave the governor a pat on the back for accepting greater percentage of the recommendations, a testimony that, Sanwo-Olu is always in a hurry to hit the ground running while handling a matter of urgency for the sake of humanity, Olokoba stated, adding that, those affected in the sad episode either dead or alive would be taken care of adequately.
Going through the recommendation, the group said they are good to make a far reaching effect on the appropriate quarters and would serve as adequate soothing balm for all the physical, mental and psychological injuries the collapsed building must have caused the victims, their families and the developers.
According to the statement, there is the need for the good people of Lagos and other relevant agencies to rally support for the governor in the next step of implementation of the recommendations stressing that, it is not over yet until it is properly over.
The group specifically called on the State’s Attorney General and Commissioner of Justice to, as a matter of urgency, put in place measures for the implementation of the accepted recommendations with a view to preventing a re-occurrence of the circumstances that led to the unfortunate incident.

Recall that a 21 storey building under construction in the Ikoyi area of Lagos State on November 1, 2021 collapsed, killing some people and injuring others and that necessitated the setting up of a panel investigate the cause of the sad incident and recommend to the government some ways to avert re-occurrence.
With this, Sanwo-Olu and his team of eminent personalities have put nobody in doubt that they have the highest degree of integrity for the sanctity of human lives, asserting that, “this also is equally commendable and praiseworthy.”
Against this backdrop, Olokoba said Sanwo-Olu has passed another integrity test for the umpteen times, confirming that the earlier passes he had recorded were not a fluke after all.
