I was not arrested with PVCs—Kwara PDP chieftain

A chieftain of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) in Ilorin West Local Government Area of Kwara State, Alhaji AbdulKadir Oba-Ajara, on Tuesday said he was not arrested by security agents in the state with Permanent Voter Cards (PVCs)

Addressing newsmen in Ilorin, Oba-Ajara described the report of his arrest as baseless and unfounded.

He said there was never a time he was in possession of voter cards belonging to other people as claimed by the authors of the ‘unsubstantiated and false report.’

Oba-Ajara attributed the allegation to the handiwork of some ‘mischief makers’ whom he said would fail in the attempt to intimidate him.

“I have a PVC which is my legitimate right to possess and I will use that on Saturday.

“I have been in politics since the 50s and I know the limit to which I can go in politics. I fear nobody except God. So, I cannot be intimated.

“I have submitted myself to the Police and the Department of State Security and they told me that they were not looking for me.” he said.

When contacted on the matter, the Police Public Relations Officer in the state, DSP Ajayi Okasanmi, told the News Agency of Nigeria (NAN) that the command did not arrest anyone with PVCs.

Okasanmi said no such incident was reported to the command and as such no arrest was made. (NAN)
