President of Nigeria Fencing Federation, Samuel Adeyinka, has assured that he would take the Nigerian Olympic Committee (NOC) if elected its Secretary General, this week, in Jalingo, Taraba State.

Adeyinka who spoke yesterday in Lagos ahead of the election said he has garnered enough international experience which he is set to bring to bear on the nation’s Olympic body.

In his words, “I was Secretary General of the African Fencing Confederation where I managed and coordinated the activities of 31 African countries for 5 years. We just secured a 20+ year International Championships hosting right (Nigerian is the only Africa country).

“We have successfully hosted two Africa Championships (Officially the largest championships). I am Co-founder of F.E.E.D (Fund, Educate, Empower and Develop) Nigeria. A grassroot initiative that supports 9 of UN’s SDGs; we have impacted the lives of over 15,000 government students, raised over N60m for the communities; and awarded 9 sports scholarships into private institutions.”

Adeyinka stressed that the NOC needs a sports administrator who is coming on board with youthful energy and fresh ideas.

He stressed that before becoming an administrator he also competed as an athlete at the highest level winning over 30 international medals.

“I am also a 2 time Commonwealth, World and African Championship athlete with over 30 international medals,” Adeyinka noted.

Adeyinka would be slugging it out with three other candidates for the position of NOC Secretary General.
