A chieftain of the Labour Party, LP, in Ehime Mbano Local Government Area of Imo State, Chief Emmanuel Nwokenkwo, has denied knowledge of the alleged attack on one of the leaders of the All Progressives Congress, APC, in the area, Barr. Uche Nwanaju.
The APC leader had circulated a video online wherein he was bandaged all over, claiming that Nwokenkwo and one Chinedu Okohia of Ihitte Nsu battered him during the November 11 governorship election in the state.
Washing his hands off the allegation, Nwokenkwo said: “I didn’t know if this actually happened to him because I was busy with INEC officials and our booth agents, trying to upload the results, emanating from the polling booths.
“When we couldn’t succeed in uploading it at Agbaghara, we moved to Orieagu roundabout where soldiers were stationed.

“Again we encountered hitches there before the soldiers led us all to the LGA headquarters where they called out the INEC representative, a technical officer to do the needful.”
Nwokenkwo suspected Nwanaju of “trying to draw sympathy where there’s none”.
However, Nwanaju’s claim took a new twist when sources (names withheld) alleged that he stage managed the attack in order to avoid accounting for the remnant of the huge sum of money given to him to prosecute the election in the Ihitte Nsu Ward.
Many are offended and shocked that Nwanaju, who was seen hale and hearty and even attended Sunday Mass a day after the election suddenly appeared bandaged up in a video and going to the extent of trying to endanger the life of his townsman over ambition for political office.
They urged the security agencies to get to the root of the matter.
