“I am covered by God’s protection, not by any deity or gods. I am using this opportunity to call on my colleague monarchs to stop putting their hopes on deities and return everything to the Almighty God whom they represent.”
The top monarch’s boast came on the heels of mounting insecurity in the country, which has claimed the lives of even many months, including the late Oba David Ogunsakin, the Elesun of Esun-Ekiti; Oba Olatunde Olusola, the late Onimojo of Omojola-Ekiti, and Oba Peter Aremu, the late Onikoro of Koro-Ekiti, who were killed by bandits in Ekiti and Kwara states.
