Presidential candidate of the People’s Democratic Party (PDP), Alhaji Atiku Abubakar, claims Vice President Kashim Shettima, knowingly assisted the kidnapping of the Chibok girls through his actions and inactions.
Atiku announced this via Phrank Shuaibu, his spokeswoman, on Friday.
Recall that in 2014, terrorists kidnapped approximately 300 schoolgirls; the event caused significant local and global anger.
Shettima had jokingly stated that he would retire Abubakar to Fombina where he would establish up a cattle farming operation for him in his remarks made following the Presidential Election Petition Court’s (PEPC) affirmation of Bola Tinubu’s electoral victory.

Shuaibu, however, chastised Shettima for speaking carelessly and lacking tact and etiquette in a statement on Friday.
Shettima is criticised by Shuaibu for his poor pronunciation and tendency to “love to rack lackluster jokes.”
“Shettima opened the floodgates of terror,” Mr Shuaibu said. “During his tenure as governor between 2011 and 2019, Borno State was taken over by terrorists completely.”
“He ignored a security report about an impending attack on Chibok which ultimately led to the abduction of over 250 schoolgirls,” he added.
Under Shettima’s leadership in Borno, the Boko Haram insurgency assumed a deadlier and more destructive dimension.
The kidnapping of around 300 schoolgirls from their dormitory in the Chibok community in 2014 attracted international notice and was strongly condemned.
When asked in a CNN interview how long it took for him to learn from then-president Goodluck Jonathan about the kidnapping, Mr. Shettima responded, “Well, it took quite a while.”
“For the first three weeks, we were politicking and there is a whole of difference between governance and politics. Instead of us to frontally address the situation, we were busy looking for scapegoat,” Mr Shettima said
