How police officer stabbed man to death over N200 bribe in Yobe

 

The Yobe State Police Command has explained how one of its officers stabbed a 39-year old man to death over a N200 bribe.

The officer, Inspector Mohammed Bulama, who was attached to Police Mobile Force PMF, 41 Division in Damaturu, Yobe State killed Abdulmalik Dauda at CMC Area, Zango, Damaturu on Sunday, September 29, 2024, for refusing to part with a N200 bribe.

According to the spokesperson of the State Police Command, DSP Dungus Abdulkarim, Abdulmalik’s refusal to give the police officer the bribe resulted in a heated argument between the two.

“When Abdulmalik refused, Inspector Bulama assaulted him with a knife, cutting him around the neck and chest leading to his death.

“On 29th September 2024 at about 1820hrs Inspector Mohammed Bulama, 38, was involved in a bitter argument with Abdulmalik Dauda (aka Baksha), 39, of Pompomari ward, Damaturu, over an uncleared transaction at Zango Area. The dispute escalated into a fight, resulting in Bulama stabbing Dauda in the chest. Bulama also sustained head injuries,” the statement read.

“Bulama was promptly arrested at the ‘C’ Divisional Police Headquarters, where he had sought refuge. The state Criminal Investigation Department (CID) has commenced investigation, and Bulama is currently in custody pending internal disciplinary action and prosecution.

“CP Garba Ahmed condemns Bulama’s actions and expresses condolences to Dauda’s family. He assures the public of a thorough and swift investigation, ensuring justice is served.

“The Nigeria Police Force will not tolerate any misconduct from its personnel. We will ensure that justice is served and the perpetrator is held accountable,” the spokesperson said.
