How gov’s wife’s sister was abducted in Delta

Unknown gunmen has kidnapped the younger sister to wife of Delta state Governor, Dame Edith Okowa along Anwai road, closed to Government House gate in Asaba, the state capital.
The victim, Elizabeth, was allegedly accosted by a gang of five stern-looking young men, along the popular Anwai Road, near Temple Clinic Restaurant junction, few metres away from the Government House gate in Asaba and whisked her away in their waiting vehicle.
The victim, who is the immediate younger sister of the First Lady, was said to have been cruising round the metropolis in a deep black Jeep when the gang ambushed her.
An eyewitness said the gang were armed with dangerous weapons during the operation.

“They shot sporadically into the air to scare away perceived enemy. Out of fear, the lady, who was ordered to come out of her vehicle, jumped into their waiting vehicle, and was sandwiched away”, the eyewitness said.
A top government functionary at the Government House in Asaba, who spoke to Nigeria Xpress on of account of anonymity, said the incident has since thrown the Governor’s wife and her entire family into trauma.
The source said for security reasons the matter was not placed on red alert but that intelligence gathering had since commenced to rescue her unhurt.
Although, the Commissioner of Police in the state, Adeyinka Adeleke, claimed ignorance, and denied any knowledge of such abduction, the gang had not opened discussion with the family or any personality in government.
