The family of Alhaji Alabi Isiaka was thrown into mourning after their first son, Yusuf Alabi, was stabbed to death by a friend in the Isawo area of Ikorodu, Lagos.
Yusuf who lives with his parents at 8 Araromi Oke-Ode Street, Abule-Oba, Ikorodu, Lagos, had left home at noon on Sunday last week to engage in the game of ram fighting.
The 25-year-old Yusuf and his friend, Segun Oyekunle had placed a bet of N4,000 each on a ram fight.
Yusuf won the game, claiming the N8,000 bet. While Yusuf was jubilating over his win, the 20-year-old Oyekunle picked offence.
Oyekunle engaged the deceased in an aggressive verbal exchange, which later resulted in a fight.

The deceased was stabbed by Oyekunle on the chest with a kitchen knife. He bled to death before onlookers could come to his aid.
The suspect was arrested by operatives of the Isawo Police Division and later transferred to the State Criminal Investigation and Intelligence Department (SCIID), Yaba.
It was learnt that the duo had hired the ram they used in the game for N1,000 each from a ram seller in the area.
Contacted for comments, the father of the deceased, Alhaji Isiaka declined to speak on the incident.
However, a police source at SCIID said the family of the deceased had said they were not interested in pressing charges.
According to the source, “The family of the deceased said they don’t want the case charged to court, but we have told them that it is not theirs to decide. It is a clear case of murder and will be handled as the law stipulates.”
It was alleged that Oyeyemi might be a member of one of the notorious cult groups operating in Lagos.
The Lagos Police Public Relations Officer, Elkana Bala, confirmed the incident saying it happened last Sunday.
Bala said, “The suspect has been arrested and he will be charged to court for murder.”
