Health of Tunisian president improves remarkably: spokesperson

The health of Tunisian President, Beji Caid Essebsi, has improved remarkably, the spokeswoman of the presidency, Saida Garrach, said on Friday.

“The head of state spoke Friday on phone with the National Defence Minister, Abdelkrim Zbidi, to inquire about the general situation in the country,” Tunis Afrique Presse quoted Garrach as saying.

The 93-year-old Beji Caid Essebsi, was taken to a military hospital on Thursday  in Tunis, following a serious health trouble,said the Presidency in a statement.

This is the second time in a few days that the president fell ill. On Saturday, Essebsi was admitted into hospital in Tunis for medical examinations over a sudden indisposition diagnosed as not dangerous.

Essebsi was born in November 1926 and took over the Tunisian presidency after winning the 2014 presidential elections. (NAN)
