Harvest of projects as Sanwo-Olu set to commission 36 roads, other projects beginning Dec 9

Lagos State governor, Babajide Sanwo-Olu will, on Monday December 9, commence commissioning of several road projects across the state.

The commissioning which will last for several days cuts across the five divisions of the state.

According to the Special Adviser to the Governor, Office of Infrastructure, Engr Olufemi Daramola, while speaking on Friday at a briefing ahead of the commissioning, the projects include 36 roads as well as five link and pedestrian bridges.

He said the projects are the backbone of the development agenda of the governor as reflected in the THEMES agenda.

The SA added that in spite of global economic challenges and high inflation which led to a major increase in the cost of construction, the governor has ensured that none of the projects were abandoned and uncompleted.

Some of the projects to be commissioned are rehabilitation and upgrading of Babajide Sanwo-Olu road (formerly Dopemu road), Agege, construction of Babafemi Dada with bridge/Yinka Folarin/Jamiu Lawal/Shalom Academy road network in Alimosho local government, Abaranje road, reconstruction and dualisation of Irede road in Amuwo-Odofin local government and rehabilitation/upgrading of Mumuni Audio(Buba Marwa) also in Amuwo-Odofin.

Others are Navy Town (Section 1) road, Amuwo-Odofin, reconstruction of. old Ojo road (Phase 1) from Iree to Oluti also in Amuwo-Odofin, rehabilitation of Aradagun-Mosafejo-Ajido-Imeke road in Badagry local government, construction of Samuel Ekundayo road, Badagry as well as reconstruction of Hospital road Phase, Badagry.

In Epe, the governor will commission the construction of Eleku street/Mosafejo, Agbowa, Ikosi while at Eti Osa, he will commission the rehabilitated and upgraded Ilabere, Ilu and Inupa roads. as well as the rehabilitated Oyinkan Abayomi drive, Ikoyi, Macpherson avenue, Femi Okunnu road, Abudu Smith Street, Platinum road, Lekki/Epe expressway phase 2, Magbon-Alade township roads.

In Ifako-Ijaiye local government , the governor will commission Abiola Onijemo link road with bridge while at Ikeja, he will commission the rehabilitated Oba Dosunmu road, Ikeja GRA, Sobo Arobiodu Street, Oduduwa Way and Oduduwa crescent, Sasegbon street

In Ikorodu, the Adamo-Akanun-Agunfoye Ilugbusi roads will be commissioned while Arowojobe link bridge and approach road will be opened at Mendez Maryland in Kosofe local government among other projects.

Daramola further said aside from the completed projects, other projects are at various stages of completion.

The commissioning will commence with the Abiola-Onijemo link road at Ifako-Ijaiye and the Alapere Pedestrian Bridge in Kosofe Local Government Area while on Tuesday, the governor will commission the Ikoyi network of roads.

The Commissioner for Information and Strategy Gbenga Omotoso said the administration is taking seriously the issue of maintaining the infrastructure adding that the state government has been arresting people vandalising infrastructures in the state.

He promised that the Sanwo-Olu’s administration won’t leave any local government untouched without infrastructure and will abandon any ongoing construction without completion.
