Gunmen kill two worshippers, injure three others in Kogi church

A parish of the Celestial Church of Christ (CCC) in the Felele area of Lokoja, Kogi State capital, was invaded by gunmen, where two worshippers were killed and three others seriously injured.

Confirming the incident to reporters, the Kogi State police spokesperson, William Aya, said the terrorists stormed the church and started shooting at the worshippers.

Aya said in a statement that, “It was a distress call that the Divisional Police Officer (DPO) of B Division Felele received that hoodlums invaded a Celestial Church behind NNPC mega station and they began shooting.

“Two people were confirmed dead in the hospital, while three are receiving treatment.”

He added that the state’s Commissioner of Police has ordered the Deputy Commissioner of Police in charge of Investigations to begin probing the dastardly with a view to unravel the cause of the attack and fish out the culprits.
