Guber poll: Emeka Ihedioha withdraws from Imo PDP primaries

A former Governor of Imo State, Rt. Hon. Emeka Ihedioha, has withdrawn from the governorship primaries election of the Imo State Peoples’ Democratic Party (PDP) in favour of a consensus candidate of the party.

In a letter he issued, on Wednesday, Hon. Ihedioha revealed that his withdrawal was to heed the call for a consensus candidate by the National Working Committee of the party.

He thanked his supporters who would be disappointed by his action and called for their understanding, particularly the electorate who have aligned themselves with his vision for the state.

Recall that Hon. Ihedioha served as a Governor of Imo State after winning the election in 2019 but was ousted by the decision of the Supreme Court one year after for incumbent Governor Hope Uzodinma of the All Progressive Congress (APC) who came fourth in the March 9, 2019 election.
