Governor Alia Declares Friday Work-Free Day

 

 

Benue State Governor, Rev. Fr. Hyacinth Alia, has declared Friday, October 4th, 2024, as a work-free day to enable workers to travel to their respective local government areas to participate in the Saturday, October 5, 2024, local government elections in the state.

In a Press release on Thursday by his Chief Press Secretary, Tersor Kula, Governor Alia emphasized the importance of active participation in the electoral process and encouraged all citizens to take advantage of the work-free day to exercise their civic duty.

He expressed confidence that with the right commitment and participation, the elections will be conducted smoothly and fairly.

“The Governor further urged all public and private sector organizations to support the initiative by allowing their employees to utilize this day for travel and preparation”.

“He also charged the citizens to prioritize peaceful conduct and collaboration during the elections, reinforcing the need for unity and cooperation among all parties involved”.

The elections are holding in the 23 local government areas in the state for 23 council chairmanship positions and 276 Councillorship seats.
