Gov. Oborevwori moves against Okowa’s stooge

Governor Sheriff Oborevwori, last week moved against his political mentor, Sen. Ifeanyi Okowa, by sacking Mrs Gloria Igumbor, a known crony of the former governor.

The sack of the former Director of Nursing Services in the Ministry of Health was greeted with a solidarity demonstrations to Government House, Asaba, on Monday.

The nurses lauded the governor for removing them from the bondage of Igumbor.

Speaking on behalf of the nurses, Comrade Julie Eto, thanked the governor for the sack of Igumbor.

According, to Eto, “We are here today on a solidarity march and it is all about thanking the governor and all the stakeholders who have redeemed nurses in Delta State.

“We call it victory because the nurses in Delta State had been in bondage for many years and now have been liberated.”

The Secretary to the State Government, Dr. Kingsley Emu, received the nurses on behalf of the governor and thanked them for their peaceful disposition.

Igumbor was known for high handedness because Okowa as an Ika man was highly protective of Igumbor, a fellow Ika person.

This is likely to be a first clash between Oborevwori and Okowa.

Said the letter: ‘I am directed to announce the following deployments which take immediate effect: ‘I. Mrs Gloria Igumbor Asst Director. From the Ministry of Health to the State Agency for the Control of Aids.’
