Gov. AbdulRazaq, minister distribute FG’s disaster relief materials in Kwara

Federal Government’a relief materials were on Tuesday distributed to flood and rainstorm victims in Kwara State by the duo of Governor AbdulRahman AbdulRazaq of the state and Minister of Humanitarian Affairs, Hadjia Sadiat Sadiq.

The minister, while speaking, said she was in Kwara State to flag off the distribution of the relief materials at the instance of President Muhannadu Buhari who approved the relief packages.

The local councils affected included Moro, Edu, Patigi, Ilorin West, Ilorin East, Ilorin South, Asa and Ifelodun.

According to her, 320 cartons of Tin Tomato,     192 bags of salt , 7,000 pieces of mattresses, 7,000 pieces of wax prints, 7,000 pieces of mosquito nets, 7,000 pieces of nylon mats, 7,000 pieces of blankets and 4,000 pieces of ceiling boards.

Others were 4,000 bags of cement, 4,000 bundles of roofing sheets, 1,500 packets of zinc nails and 500 bags of 3 inches Nails.

For the affected persons in Edu, Patigi and Moro local government areas, she announced 753 bags of (12.5kg) rice 753 bags of (12.5kg) maize, 753  bags of (25kg) beans, 75  kegs  of (20 litrs) vegetable oil, 38  bags of  (20kg) salt, 126 cartons of seasoning and 63 cartons of Tin Tomatoes.

Also, 1,500 pieces of mattresses, 1,500 pieces of wax prints, 1,500 pieces of blankets, 1,500 pieces of mosquito nets,  150 cartons of toilet soap, 150 cartons of detergent, 1,250 bundles of roofing sheets, 1,250 bags of cement, 1,250 pieces of ceiling boards, 100 bags of 3 inch nail and 250 packets of zinc nails.

Speaking, the governor expressed gratitude to the Federal Government for its support to the state during the COVID-19 lockdown.

“We so much appreciate the gesture and I thank the Honourable Minister and her team for making it happen,” he said.

He promised that  his government would ensure that the relief materials were delivered directly to the victims whose data he said had been captured and documented by the government and the National Emergency Management Agency (NEMA).

However, the governor begged that his government used the opportunity to again appeal for more support for victims of the recent flooding in Patigi, Edu, Moro and other parts of the state that were affected.

He continued, “Farmlands and properties worth several billions of Naira were destroyed in the incident. The state government looks forward to Federal Government’s support in this direction to give more hope to our people.
