George Akume’s choice as SGF: Deserving, well-thought-out by Tinubu – UIAA leader

The President, University of Ibadan Alumni Association (UIAA) worldwide, Prof. Saawua Gabriel Nyityo, has commanded President Bola Ahmed Tinubu, following the appointment of Sen. George Akume as the Secretary to the Government of the Federation (SGF)

This was contained in a statement made available to Nigeria Xpress by University of Ibadan Alumni Association, describing the appointment as, ”deserving and well-thought-out by President Tinubu”.

Praising President Tinubu for making the appointment, Prof. Nyityo, commended Senator George Akume’s unwavering commitment to serving Nigeria, saying “after secondary education Senator George Akume proceeded to the Premier University, the University of Ibadan for his Bachelor of Science Degree in Sociology (1978).

“He also obtained a Masters Degree in Industrial and Labour Relations (MILR) from the same Department and University (1986).”

While congratulating the Most Distinguished Alumnus (MDA) Award recipient of the University of Ibadan, Nyityo disclosed that Senator George Akume delivered the 2006 UIAA Alumni Lecture and was listed in Who is Who University of Ibadan 1948-2018 Vol.1, as well as being a member of the Great Tender Hall of Fame, University of Ibadan.

The President said the new SGF was a principled charismatic man of integrity, a man who has distinguish himself as a true leader, a visionary leader with a dream of providing a social welfare people-oriented, renewed hope government that would anchored on service towards growth and development of our nation.

Recognising his vast experience as Administrator, lawmaker, and leader, the President who noted that he was confident that Senator George Akume would bring to bear his vast knowledge, wealth of experience and exposure on his new assignment, said :

“I am optimistic that his track record would greatly contribute to his successful execution of duties. The new SGF is unquestionably well-suited for his new position”.

“The University of Ibadan Alumni Association worldwide wishes him the best as he takes on his new national assignment.” Nyityo concluded.
Prior to his appointment as SGF, Sen. George Akume served as the Minister of Special Duties in immediate past President Muhammadu Buhari’s cabinet.
