Fulani herdsmen list conditions to end outdoor grazing

Fulani herdsmen, under the umbrella of Miyetti Allah Kautal Hore (MAKH) have given the conditions that must be met to end outdoor herding in the country.

The Fulani herdemen herders said they were willing to leave grazing outdoors if the Federal Government provided them with funding and logistics to create alternatives.

Brand ambassador of the group, Temitope Ajayi, said this along with association officials during a visit to the Minister of Women’s Affairs, Mrs. Pauline Tallen, in Abuja.

The herders noted that they could not suddenly abandon the ancient practice because there is still no alternative way to feed their livestock.

According to Ajayi,  “There is a need to reorient and change the mindset and perceptions of herders, farmers and other Fulani entities in Nigeria, modernize livestock husbandry and end outdated outdoor grazing and other nomadic activities and bring them to best practices internationals.”

Ajayi added that it was necessary to reorient and change the mindset and perceptions of Fulani herdsmen to end outdated outdoor herding practices.
