Fubara’s rumoured move to APP threatened as explosion rocks party’s secretariat in Rivers

Explosion has reportedly rocked the secretariat building of the Action People’s Party in Port Harcourt, Rivers State in the early hours of Monday, around 1am.

According to report, dynamites were thrown into the building by some unidentified people, shattering windows and doors, and causing significant property damage.

The incident is coming on the heels of rumoured plan by Governor Simi Fubara to decamp from the PDP to APP following claim that his predecessor, Nyesom Wike whom he has been having running battle with for the control of the state has taken over the machinery of the PDP in the state.

Although the police have yet to confirm or deny the incident, reports indicate that unknown assailants threw substances believed to be dynamite into the building, resulting in the blast.

Loyalists of Fubara have said that the explosion at the secretariat was politically motivated.

“Yes, I’m a member of the APP. I was informed of the attack at about 3 am today.

“This is politically-motivated and there are no two ways about it. They know that the APP is a fast-growing political party in the state. We call on the police to investigate this and arrest the culprits.”
