When the case was called up, neither the prosecution counsel nor Emefiele was in court though he was represented by one of his counsels, I.D Ahmed, who told the court that the prosecution served him a letter praying for an adjournment.

Ahmed also apologised to the court for Emefiel’s absence.

However, the presiding judge, Hamza Muazu, noted: “Because you have a letter of adjournment from the prosecution does not mean the defendant should not be in court.”

Thereafter, the judge adjourned  the case to June 24 and June 25 for continuation of trial.
