The President, Association of Lagos State Retired Heads of Service and Permanent Secretaries(ALARHOSPS),  Nurudeen Ojora- Adejiyan, has said now is the time for the federal government to find solution to the food crisis in the country.

In a statement  signed by the Publicity Secretary of the association, Olusina Thorpe, the call is in  view of the coming annual summit of the association with the theme “Agenda for sustainable development and food security,’ scheduled to hold between Tuesday 13th  and, Wednesday 14th August, 2024 at Ikeja, Lagos State.

According to the statement, Adejiyan described food security as a cornerstone of any stable and prosperous society, stressing that every individual and group should have access to sufficient, safe and nutritious foods to lead healthy lives.

He stated further that Nigeria, despite its rich agricultural heritage and potential, faces significant challenges which should be addressed through a comprehensive and collaborative approach, involving both state and non- state actors.

This year’s summit will feature erudite scholars and food security experts from across the globe who are expected to share their expertise and experience that would form the basis for a sustainable development agenda towards food security in the country.

It added that the concept of the ALARHOSPS Summit, which started in 2015, is to serve as a veritable platform through which relevant and useful contributions are made towards state and national development.
