President of Super Eagles Supporters Club, Vincent Okumagba has appealed to Nigerian fans to stop bashing the Paul Aigbogun tutored Flying Eagles insisting that the team would get better as they progress in the on going Poland 2019 FIFA U20 World Cup.
Flying Eagles after Thursday night’s 1-1 draw against Ukraine managed to secure a place in the round of 16.
Okumagba while commending the fighting spirit of the lads said what they need now is support rather than being demoralized.
“My take is that the team is not a bad one. I like their fighting spirit and their overall energy. We must understand that this is a developmental tournament and I can see some real talent in the team. I m happy they are still in the tournament…let’s keep supporting them.,” Okumagba said.
Okumagba disclosed that he would be jetting out Sunday to mobilize Nigerians in Poland to support the team in their round of 16 game.
“What the team needs is the support and prayers of all Nigerians. I m confident they would get better if properly psyched up. No doubt, there is a lot of job to be done by the technical crew, but this is the time for every Nigerian to queue behind the boys.”
It would be noted that the Flying Eagles won their first game of the tournament beating Qatar by 4-0 only to lose 0-2 to USA in their second match. The draw secured yesterday against Ukraine was good enough to see them through the group stage as one of third best teams.
