Five pipeline vandals burnt in Imo explosion 

An explosion has rocked Obitti community in Ohaji/Egbema Local Government Area of Imo State. 

 

 

 

 

The explosion, which has been linked to activities of pipeline vandals, claimed five people’s lives.

 

 

 

 

Confirming the incident, Imo State Police Command via ASP Henry Okoye, the command’s spokesperson, added that Mr. Aboki Danjuma,  the state Commissioner of Police, had already constituted a team to investigate the incident and arrest the fleeing perpetrators.

He said: “Five vandals were burnt beyond recognition, and we are currently investigating it in collaboration with our sister security agencies to unravel the identities of those behind the economic sabotage.

 

 

 

 

“They went for their normal pipeline vandalism when the incident occurred.

 

 

 

 

“Our goal is to make sure that similar vandalism does not occur in the future.”

 

 

 

 

Pipeline vandalism has become an increasing scourge in the state, recording high casualty figures each time there is an explosion, which has become more frequent.
