Plans are afoot by the Federal Government to disburse a whopping N24 billion to for ranching.
The four states to benefit from this largesse are Ebonyi, Yobe, Katsina and the Federal Capital Territory (FCT).
This was disclosed, on Wednesday, by Special Assistant to President Muhammadu Buhari on Media, Malam Garba Shehu.
He spokes on Channels Television.
He said the four states received N6 billion each for ranching and other associated purposes, noting that eight other states would get theirs soon as their applications were processed.
He explained that any state that is interested and meets the requirements will get the same grant.
His words: “Yes, Katsina has been given, but Katsina is not the only state that has been given.
“So far, about N24billion has been disbursed to about four states for ranching and associated activities.
“Yobe has been given. Ebonyi has been given and FCT has been given. More than eight other states are now being processed for this payment.”
Shehu said the programme is one of the ways the Buhari Administration intends to end the farmer/herder clashes.
