FG shut land borders ahead Presidential election

The Federal Government has ordered the closure of all land borders across the country ahead of the general elections.

Spokesperson of the Nigeria Immigration Service (NIS), Mr. Tony Akuneme, announced this, on Thursday, that NIS Comptroller-General, Mr. Isah Jere, said the border closure will last for 24 hours on election day.

The closure would be effective from 12:00am on Saturday, February 25, to 12:00am on Sunday.

Akuneme said “Accordingly, all command comptrollers especially those in the border states are to ensure strict enforcement of this directive.”
