Feb. 25: Edo native doctor invokes gods against INEC chair, Prof. Yakubu, others

In a trending video, an Edo State native doctor has placed a curse of Chairman of the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC), Prof. Mahmood Yakubu and other staff of the Commission who allegedly colluded to manipulate the February 25, Presidential election.

Recall that INEC had, on March 1, declared Asiwaju Bola Ahmed Tinubu of the All Progressives Congress (APC) the President-elect.

But the result is being contested by Atiku Abubakar of the People’s Democratic Party (PDP) and his counterpart in the Labour Party (LP), Mr. Peter Obi.

The native doctor accused Prof. Yakubu and others of allegedly scuttling the wishes of the people.

The herbalist stated that the days of INEC officials are numbered as he had invoked the gods of Benin to deal with them before the month of May.

He was quoted as saying, “Peter Obi’s result was taken to another person by the INEC Chairman. You have taken the glory of this land to the wrong person. Today, I have called the spirit of death.

“This thing you have done to this country, you’ll never find peace…you and all those that are working for you. The gods of this land is sending a message.

“Our people abroad are tired, they want to come back home because they want a new Nigeria.. You said no way. You’ll never find peace. Shame and disgrace will locate you,” he said.

The outcome of the presidential election remains controversial after violence in many areas and irregularities including overvoting and alteration of results, among others.

The PDP this week stressed that Prof. Yakubu ‘manipulated’ the poll in favour of the APC and asked him to resign.

The opposition said the INEC chairman had committed a “serious electoral offence” and “betrayed the trust, confidence and hope Nigerians” reposed in him and the commission.

Recall that a statement by the International Republican Institute, IRI, and the National Democratic Institute, NDI, joint mission declared that INEC lacked transparency during the polls.
