Faces at D’CEM Atlanta awards

Debby Classique Entertainment Magazine (D’CEM) held its 15th award event on July 22 in Atlanta, Georgia, United States.
The event was a star-studded affair, starting with a glamorous pre-award night on Friday 21, which was D’CEM’s 15th anniversary gala night, followed by a captivating red carpet event and the award ceremony itself.

Attendees and online viewers alike were filled with nostalgia and applause as their colleagues and icons from the entertainment industry were recognised for their influence and remarkable achievements across various award categories.

With strategically coordinated nominations, the D’CEM Awards night was a phenomenal experience, infused with suspense and amusing interludes that seamlessly incorporated the latest music trends. The engaging presentations by celebrity actors Omalicha Chucks, Jeremy Anderson, Martha Lucia, Laura Arbelaez, Tarice Nola Dame, Carolina Rodriguez, Kamilla Davis, Ijeoma Orji, Carisha the Diva, hosts and anchors added a touch of excellence to the proceedings. This year’s event exuded radiance, style, and sophistication. The expressions of excitement and pride on the faces of the award recipients were truly priceless.


It is an honour and privilege for us to reflect on the D’CEM Awards. Distinguished guests, industry leaders, notable celebrities, and the representative of the Governor of Georgia graced the occasion as Sebastian Baron received a humanitarian excellence award, making it even more special. D’CEM specially recognized the mayor city of Atlanta, Hon. Andre Dickens with the lifetime achievement award. Prof. Emeritus Augustine O Esogbue Nnom and Prof. Femi Ajayi, and Dr Obinna Olowu, were honoured.


Many African community organisations’ leaders were in attendance, including the President of Nigerians in Diaspora Organisation, NIDO, Helen Abosute; the President Alliance of Nigerian Organisations in Georgia, ANOG, Kayode Adekunle; Dr Juliet Elu, a professor at More House College; Dr Busola George, member of Eco Club, Dr Ladan Zumunta, president of the biggest house groups in America.

It was indeed a great night. D’CEM proudly celebrated the excellence, innovation, and remarkable achievements of creative entertainers, influential leaders, and professionals. Many American celebrities and African celebrities graced the D’CEM event as honourees. Stella Damasus, Omawumi Nzube Onyia, Monie Sutton, Mahogany Raspberry, Kiana Dancie, Bubba Amino Mercy MacJoe, Florence Onuma, Chimere Emejiobi, Mimi Mala, Margarita Vilvens, Tumi Oluyole, and special Nollywood guest Daniel K Daniel and many celebrity guests.

Fun and live entertainment were provided by Ache Sule, Princess Ella, Donclef Ibo, and Don Crucifixto. The event had the privilege of hosting exceptional individuals who have not only made significant contributions to their respective fields but also to Africans, American society and the global society.

The recognition bestowed upon them is a testament to their passion, determination, and commitment to excellence. It serves as a reminder that with these qualities, any obstacle can be overcome, and a lasting impact can be made in any field. The D’CEM 2023 award event was undeniably a mind-blowing and highly esteemed affair, leaving a lasting impact. It also facilitated robust networking and collaboration opportunities, fostering future productivity.
